TCA Chemical Peel
TCA tricholoracetic acid is a chemical solution. It is a strong
acid and is widely used as a chemical skin peel. The procedure
aims to improve the skin’s appearance by removing the outer
layer of damaged skin to reveal the underlying layer, which is
newer and smoother in texture.
The peel is performed in our office and requires approximately
15-60 minutes of your time. The TCA peel will cause a burning sensation
that will last two to ten minutes. You will be given pain medication
to help you tolerate this burning during the peeling agent application.
Typically, you will be able to return to your normal activities
immediately, and most people can comfortably resume normal activities
within a week. However, you must stay out of the sun and use the
appropriate sunscreen.
This peel will last approximately 6 months to 2 years. The peel
is ideal for individuals who want more that a superficial glycolic
peel, but cannot afford the expense or recovery time of a deeper
treatment. Most individuals who choose TCA as the mainstay of their
fascial rejuvenationhave a repeat peel every 6 to 12 months.
If you have sun damage, large pores, fine lines, acne or acne
scars, or just want to improve the texture of your skin call our
office today for a consultation.
